365 Days of Middle-earth ~ Day 137: Merethrond

Merethrond (S. ‘feast-hall’) was the Great Hall of Feasts in Minas Tirith, used by those of nobility in times of celebration. Following the War of the Ring, Aragorn held a feast here for King Éomer upon his return to Minas Tirith.

Etymology

Comes from the Elven mereth ‘feast’ and rond ‘hall’ or ‘great cavern’
