Nienna’s task is to bring peace to those stricken with grief. She often does this by way of dreams. With her tears, she brings healing; it was she who brought to life the last fruit and flower of the Two Trees after their poisoning through her tears. Her greatest pupil was Olórin the Maia.

365 Days of Middle-earth ~ Day 154: Nienna
Nienna (Q. ‘Lady of Mourning’), the sister of Mandos and Lórien, is an Ainu, a Queen of the Valar and one of the Aratar (High Ones). She dwells in western Valinor near Mandos, in the Gardens of Lórien, seldom coming to Valimar. With no spouse, the Lady of Grief and Compassion is concerned with mourning, pitying the suffering of others. But her lesson is not of endless grief and suffering; instead, she embodies hope, pity, and the endurance of the spirit.
